The author considers Gray-Scott equations, a reaction-diffusion system for \((u,v)\) with a cubic nonlinearity. Using the semigroup approach, the well-posedness of a classical solution follows. The global existence (and dissipativity) are obtained by testing with a suitable combination of \(u\) and \(v\). Furthermore, asymptotic compactness is shown by decomposing the solution into a (pointwise) bounded part and a (small) reminder; essentially, the maximum principle is employed here. Finally, by the analyticity of the semigroup, the smoothing effect of the solution operator is established, yielding the existence of a finite-dimensional exponential attractor.
