This work addresses the mathematical consideration of a model, which is motivated by features of the Avian influenza spread. It considers populations of susceptible, latently and actively infected and recovered persons as well as susceptible, vaccinated, latent and infectious members of the poultry population. The spatial dimension of the problem takes into account coordinate-dependent diffusion rates of susceptible humans, susceptible poultry and vaccinated poultry. In addition, the incubation period leading to explicit time delay terms and the spatiotemporal dynamics of the environmental virus spread are incorporated into the model. For the model, the well-posedness of the respective system is proven. By the consideration of the eigenvalue problem, the basic reproduction number is discussed as well as the related threshold dynamics.
