The authors prove an abstract KAM-type theorem for Hamiltonian lattice systems with i.i.d.\ random frequencies, which also gives linear stability of the quasi-periodic solutions. They apply this to a kind of cubic nonlinear-Schrödinger lattice model in the weakly nonlinear regime with weak and exponentially localized coupling. The introduction contains some discussion of breathers in nonlinear Schrödinger partial differential equation models and the approach of Craig, Wayne and Bourgain.
