The author studies surface links which are defined as smooth embeddings of closed surfaces into \(\mathbb R^4\). The triple linking number for surface links was defined in the article [\textit{J. S. Carter} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 355, No. 10, 3947--3989 (2003; Zbl 1028.57003)]; this notion plays the role of the well-known notion of linking number for classical links. A \(T^2\)-link is a surface link with each connected component diffeomorphic to the torus. The author describes a construction of \(T^2\)-links starting from a pair of commuting classical braids \(a, b\). One of the main results of the paper expresses the triple linking number of these \(T^2\)-links in terms of linking invariants associated to the braids \(a, b\). The author also states some results concerning the triple point number (defined as the minimal number of triple points in all generic projections) of these \(T^2\)-links.
