If \(G\) is a Lie group with a closed subgroup \(P\) for which the action of \(G\) on \(X:=G/P\) is effective, then a Cartan geometry on a manifold \(M\) with model space \(X\) is a pair \(\mathcal{C}=(\widehat{M},\omega)\) where \(\pi\colon \widehat{M}\to M\) is a principal \(P\)-bundle and \(\omega\) is a \(P\)-equivariant \(\mathfrak{g}\)-valued 1-form on \(\widehat{M}\) satisfying the condition that \(\omega_x\colon T_x\widehat{M}\to\mathfrak{g}\) is a linear isomorphism for every \(x\in \widehat{M}\), and \(\omega(X^\ddagger)=X\) for every \(X\in\mathfrak{p}\), where \(X^\ddagger\) is the vertical tangent field defined by \(X\) via the action of \(P\) on \(\widehat{M}\). If moreover \(G\) is a semisimple Lie group with finite center, without compact local factors, and \(P\) is a parabolic subgroup of \(G\), then the Cartan geometry \(\mathcal{C}\) is called a parabolic geometry. One of the main results of the paper under review is that, if \((M,\mathcal{C})\) is a parabolic geometry, \(U\subseteq M\) is an open subset, \(h\colon U\to M\) is a map, and \((f_k\colon U\to M)_{k\ge 1}\) is a sequence of automorphic immersions of \((M,\mathcal{C})\) that converges to \(h\) in the \(C^0\)-topology on \(U\), then \(h\) is smooth and the above sequence converges to \(h\) in the \(C^\infty\) topology, too. In the same setting of a parabolic geometry \((M,\mathcal{C})\), one also proves that the automorphism group \(\mathrm{Aut}(M,\mathcal{C})\) endowed with the compact-open topology is a Lie transformation group and is a closed subgroup of \(\mathrm{Homeo}(M)\).
