Conformal actions of nilpotent groups on pseudo-Riemannian manifolds (Q984455)

The authors study conformal actions of a connected nilpotent Lie group \(H\) on a compact (\(p+q\))-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifold of type (\(p\),\(q\)), where \(p\) is the (negative) index of the metric. If \(p \geq 1\) and \(p+q \geq 3\), they prove that \(d \text{(} H\text{)} \leq 2 p + 1\), where \(d \text{(} H\text{)}\) is the degree of nilpotence of \(H\). The equality is attained, up to an equivalence, only for particular quotients of some conformally flat manifold.
