Let \(G\) be a finite group, \(p \in \pi(G)\) and \(B\) a \(p\)-block of \(G\) with defect group \(D\). If \(n \in \mathbb{N}\), let \(n_{p}\) be the largest \(p\)-power dividing \(n\). Let \(|G|=p^{a}\), \(|D|=p^{d}\), \(\chi \in \mathrm{Irr}(B)\) then, for a well-known result of R. Brauer, \(\chi(1)_{p}=p^{a-d+h}\) for a unique integer \(h=h(\chi)\geq 0\), called the height of \(\chi\). If \(mh(B)\) is the minimum of the non-zero heights of \(\mathrm{Irr}(B)\), then the Eaton-Moretó Conjecture (see [\textit{C. W. Eaton} and \textit{A. Moretó}, Math. Res. Not. 2014, No. 20, 5581--5601 (2014; Zbl 1348.20009)]) proposes that \(mh(B)=mh(D)\), where \(mh(D)\) is the smallest non-zero height of the irreducible characters of \(D\).\N\NIn the paper under review, the author proves that the Eaton-Moretó Conjecture is true for the principal blocks of the \(p\)-solvable groups.
