A group \(G\) is factorizable if it has a factorization \(G=AB\) with \(A, B \leq G\). A factorization is proper if \(A \not =G \not =B\) and exact if \(A \cap B=1\). One of the most famous results is Itô's Theorem: any group is metabelian whenever it is the product of two abelian subgroups ([\textit{N. Itô}, Math. Z. 62, 400--401 (1955; Zbl 0064.25203)]). \textit{W. Scott} (in [Ill. J. Math. 1, 389--394 (1957; Zbl 0077.24902); Ill. J. Math. 4, 652--655 (1960; Zbl 0093.02501)]) proved that if \(G=AB\), with \(A\) abelian and \(B\) Hamiltonian, then \(G\) is solvable and its derived length is, at most, \(4\).\N\NIn the paper under review, the authors give a characterization of groups \(G=HC\), with \(H\) generalized quaternion or dihedral, \(C\) cyclic, \(C_{G}=1\) (i.e. \(C\) core-free) and \(H \cap C=1\).
