\textit{T. Dray} and \textit{C. Hellaby} [see the preceding review Zbl 0864.53048)] have asserted the possibility of weaker junction conditions (for smooth and discontinuous signature change) than those advocated by Kossowski and Kriele. Both articles are part of the controversy surrounding the ``correct'' implementation of classical signature change in general relativity. The theory of signature change is highly speculative and does not have any real experimental backing. The whole controversy is built around what one perceives as natural from a mathematical or physical point of view. Dray and Hellaby have argued the ``weak junction condition point of view'' without addressing the merits of the opposing point of view. Without considering each implementation from its authors' perspective, it is difficult to judge which is the ``best'' proposal. In this reply I first recall the different motivations behind each of the competing proposals before seeking to clarify some statements in Dray and Hellaby's comment.
