It is well known that heteroclinic cycles can occur stably in the context of equivariant systems. For initial values near the cycle, one observes long time behaviour near an equilibrium and sudden bursts describing the travel along a heteroclinic connection. The goal of the paper is to construct feedback strategies to avoid bursting. The authors look at a general O(2) equivariant system, which is known to lead to heteroclinic cycles. They use a control which breaks the O(2)-symmetry and leads to a remaining SO(2)-equivariance. Their control preserves the group orbit of equilibria and stabilizes each of them.
