The main result of the paper states that for positive definite binary integral hermitian lattices the number of integers represented locally everywhere but not globally (exceptional integers) tends to infinity with the volume (generalized discriminant) of the lattice. This is compared with results of Watson and of Earnest for the case of integral ternary quadratic forms.
