Action of differential operator \(d/dx\) on the ultraspherical polynomials, which provide right inverse to \(d/dx\), has been employed for the Pollaczek polynomials in this paper. A right inverse to the linear operator \(T\), defined by \[ TP_n^\nu (x;a,b)= 2P_{n-1}^{\nu+1} (x;a,b), \] is described by solving the connecting coefficient problem, expressing Pollaczek polynomials \(P_n^\nu (x;a,b)\) in terms of \(\{P_j^{\nu+1} (x;a,b)\}_{j=0}^n\). In the subsequent sections, the authors have obtained an integral representation of the formal right inverse to \(T\), and found the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the inverse operator \(T^{-1}\) expressed as \[ T^{-1} P_n^{\nu+1} (x;a,b)= {\textstyle {\frac{1}{2}}} P_{n+1}^\nu (x;a,b), \] which are in fact related to zeros of Bessel functions \(J_{\nu+a/x} (x)\). It may be noted that the inverse operator \(T^{-1}\) is a linear integral operator with a non-symmetrical kernel, and as such it is compact and trace class, but not normal. In the conclusive section, \(q\)-analogue of the results of the preceding sections have been obtained, having started with solving the connection coefficient problem for the \(q\)-Pollaczek polynomials. It appears that this work may be employed to fractional calculus and finding asymptotic expansions.
