This paper is devoted to the construction of quantum analogs of coherent states on simple compact quantum groups of type \(A_\ell\), \(B_\ell\), \(C_\ell\) and \(D_\ell\). The authors first recall the construction of coherent states in the classical situation and some necessary background on quantum groups and their representation theory. Next, the authors define the quantum coherent state associated to a finite dimensional highest weight representation of a compact simple quantum group, and study its basic properties. In particular, they show that the coherent space can be viewed as a function from an appropriate quantum homogeneous space to the representation space. Next, the canonical element in the quantum double is used to introduce complex coordinates on a general orbit of the quantum dressing action. This leads to a realization of the representation in question on antiholomorphic sections of a quantum line bundle, which can be viewed as a noncommutative analog of Borel-Weil theory. Finally, some relations between representation theory and noncommutative differential geometry of quantum groups are discussed.
