Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be Banach spaces. The map \(f:X\to Y\) is called monomial of degree \(n\) if it satisfies the functional equation \(\Delta_y^n f(x) - n!f(y) = 0\) for each \(x,y\in X\), where \(\Delta_y f(x)=f(x+y)-f(x)\). In this paper, developing a result of \textit{A. Gilányi} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 96, No. 19, 10588--10590 (1999; Zbl 0963.39030)], the author considers the Hyers-Ulam stability problem of the above equation on some restricted domains of form \(H^2\cap \{(x,y)\in X^2: \|x\|\geq d\}\) with \(d>0\), where \(H\) is a subset of \(X\) such that \(X-H\) is of the first category. As a consequence, the author obtains a stability theorem of the equation on a set of Lebesgue measure zero when \(X =\mathbb{R}\) and a hyperstability result for the equation.
