The main result of the paper is the derivation of an asymptotic expansion (w.r.t. a small parameter \(\varepsilon>0\)) for the invariant measure of the environmental process of ballistic random walks moving on \(\mathbb Z^d\) in the low disorder regime within the spirit of previous expansions of \textit{C. Sabot} [Ann. Probab. 32, No. 4, 2996--3023 (2004; Zbl 1063.60149)] with a certain velocity. This result is given for random walks in a random environment in dimensions \(d\geq 2\) with vanishing velocity, and is one of the few ones where explicit quantitative information about the invariant measure of the environmental process is presented. As an application, a numerical expression is derived up to the first order of \(\varepsilon\) for the invariant measure of random perturbations of the simple symmetric random walk with \(d=2\).
