For an associative algebra \(A\) a 2-local derivation is some map \(\Delta : A \to A\) such that for every \(x, y \in A\) there exists a derivation \(D_{x,y} : A \to A\), for which \(\Delta (x) = D_{x,y}(x)\) and \(\Delta (y) = D_{x,y}(y)\). This notion was inspired by some investigations of algebras of all linear bounded operators on infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert spaces. In this article 2-local derivations are investigated for the case of Witt algebras and of some their variants. One of the main problems for 2-local derivations is to understand when they automatically are derivations.\N\NLet \(A_n = \mathbf{C} [t_1^{\pm 1}, t_2^{\pm 1}, \ldots, t_n^{\pm 1}]\) be the Laurent polynomial algebra, then the Lie algebra \(W_n = Der(A_n)\) is the Witt algebra. Also \(W_\infty\) and some subalgebras of \(W_n\) (\(W^+_n, W_n^{++}\) -- first of them is simple, but the second is not) are defined.\N\NThe main results are: every 2-local derivation of Witt algebras \(W_n, W_n^+\) or \(W_n^{++}\) is a derivation for all \(n = 1, 2, \ldots , \infty\). As a corollary it is proved that every 2-local derivation of any generalized Virasoro algebra \(W_n(\mu)\) for generic \(\mu \in \mathbf C^n\) is a derivation.
