      The authors study classical solutions to the chemotaxis system \[ \begin{cases} n_t = \Delta n - \chi \nabla \cdot (n \nabla c), &\quad (x,t) \in \Omega \times (0,T), \\ c_t = \Delta c - nc , &\quad (x,t) \in \Omega \times (0,T), \end{cases} \] endowed with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions and positive initial data \((n_0,c_0) \in C^0 (\bar{\Omega}) \times W^{1,q} (\Omega)\) with some \(q >3\), where \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^3\) is a bounded, smooth domain and \(\chi >0\). Assuming that the maximal existence time \(T\) is finite, the authors prove that \(n\) becomes unbounded in \(L^r ((0,T); L^s(\Omega))\) whenever \(\frac{3}{s} + \frac{2}{r} \leq 2\) and \(s \in (\frac{3}{2}, \infty]\). In addition, a positive lower bound for \(\limsup_{t \nearrow T} (T-t) \| n(t) \|_{L^\infty (\Omega)}\) is shown along with a corresponding local estimate near any blow-up point, the so-called nondegeneracy of blow-up points which was proved in [\textit{N. Mizoguchi} and \textit{Ph. Souplet}, Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 31, No. 4, 851--875 (2014; Zbl 1302.35075)] for the classical Keller-Segel system. Important ingredients of the proofs are appropriate a priori estimates and an entropy type inequality.
