All topological spaces are assumed to be regular \(T_1\)-spaces. PIGO denotes the class of perfect images of GO-spaces. The author looks for generalizations of the result that each monotonically countably metacompact GO-space with a \(\sigma\)-closed-discrete dense subset is metrizable. Among other things, NSR pair-families are introduced, and pair-bases that are NSR pair-families or countable unions of such pair-families are discussed. This leads to an investigation of properties weaker than monotone countable metacompactness in PIGO and compact spaces. The following statements generalize (or are related to) results already available in the mathematical literature: GO-spaces with a \(\sigma\)-closed-discrete dense subset and the NZ\((\omega)\)-property are metrizable. A compact space with a \(\sigma\)-NSR pair-base is metrizable. PIGO spaces with a \(\sigma\)-closed-discrete dense subset and a \(\sigma\)-NSR pair-base are metrizable. The paper ends with several interesting questions dealing with these and similar concepts.
