Two finite groups \(L_1\) and \(L_2\) are called compatible if there exists a finite group \(G\) with isomorphic normal subgroups \(N_1\) and \(N_2\) such that \(L_1 \cong G/N_1\) and \(L_2 \cong G/N_2\). The paper studies this compatibility problem for abstract finite groups and introduces a new sufficient condition ensuring that two given groups are compatible.\N\NThe authors develop a constructive approach based on inverse systems of finite groups over finite posets and on a generalised wreath product construction. A central result shows that groups admitting compatible normal series satisfying additional structural conditions are compatible. The construction produces explicitly a group \(G\) together with surjective homomorphisms onto \(L_1\) and \(L_2\) with isomorphic kernels.\N\NAs consequences, it is shown that nilpotent groups of the same order are compatible and that groups of the same square-free order are compatible. The paper also formulates a conjecture asserting that two finite groups are compatible if and only if they admit compatible normal series, which would provide a complete solution to the compatibility problem.
