The author studies some inequalities concerning the generalized matrix function (GMF), which extends the determinant function. The GMF corresponds to a group contained in the symmetric group \(S_n\) and a character of this group and the inputs are \(n \times n\) complex matrices. More concretely, the author proves that \(|f(ANB^*)|^2 \leq f(ANA^*) f(BNB^*)\) when \(f\) is a GMF and \(N\) is positive semidefinite. The author studies when this inequality becomes an equality and some consequences and related results of the aforementioned inequality are discussed as well.
