The paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, the question raised by \textit{C. Heil} [private communication. (2023)] as to whether the atom of a Gabor frame must be in \(M^{p}(\mathbb{R})\) for some \(1<p<2\) is solved. The second part concerns two questions regarding the unconditional convergence of the Gabor expansion in modulation spaces. Moreover, the main results of \textit{C. Heil} and \textit{P.-T. Yu} [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 29, No. 1, Paper No. 14, 15 p. (2023; Zbl 1512.42047)] to all Banach spaces that do not contain a topologically isomorphic copy of \(C_{0}\) are extended. Using these results, all Gabor systems for which the series in its reconstruction formula converges unconditionally for all elements and all alternative duals in \(M^{p,q}(\mathbb{R})\) for all \(1\le p, q<\infty\) are characterized.
