The aim of this paper is to settle a conjecture by \textit{U. Dardano} et al. [Int. J. Group Theory 7, No. 3, 17--62 (2018; Zbl 1442.20023)] [Topol. Algebra Appl. 8, 5--27 (2020; Zbl 1445.20046)] that any uniformly fully inert subgroup of an abelian group is commensurable with a fully invariant subgroup.\N\NA subgroup \(S\) of an abelian group \(G\) is uniformly fully inert if there exists a positive integer \(m\) such that for every endomorphism \(\phi\) of \(G\), the cardinality of the quotient-group \((\phi(S) +S)/S\) is at most \(m\). Two subgroups \(B\) and \(C\) of \(G\) are commensurable if both quotients \((B + C)/B\) and \((B + C)/C\) are finite.\N\NThe authors use elementary properties of endomorphim rings and automorphism groups of abelian groups to show that for all abelian groups \(G\), all uniformly fully inert subgroups of \(G\) are commensurable with a fully invariant subgroup of \(G\).
