The compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations of the form\N\[\N\begin{split} \rho \partial_t u + \rho u \cdot \nabla u & = -\frac 1 \gamma \nabla(\rho^\gamma) + \nu\Delta u,\ \nu\in \{0,1\},\\\N\partial_t \rho + \operatorname{div}(\rho u)& = 0, \end{split}\N\]\Nwhich are considered on a three-dimensional torus or the three-dimensional Euler space, are investigated. The main object of this article is the possibility of the development of an imploding singularity, i.e., a solution for which both \(\|\varrho\|_{L^\infty}\) and \(\|u\|_{L^\infty}\) becomes infinite in finite time.\N\NThe authors introduce a hyperbolic-parabolic version of the equations, by using \(\sigma = \varrho^{(\gamma-1)/2}\) as an unknown, and this system is rewritten in time and space self-similar coordinates. Every self-similar solution to the steady Euler equation is a limit of a solution emanating from some smooth initial data \(\rho_0\) and \(u_0\), which are non-radially symmetric.
