      The authors investigate the existence of multiple solutions for a fourth order differential equation \N\[\N(p(t)z'')'' - (q(t)z')' + r(t)z = \gamma h(t,z(t))+ \mu g(t,z(t)),\N\]\N\[\Nz(a)=z(b)=0, z''(a)=z''(b)=0, \N\]\Nwhere \(\lambda > 0\), \(\mu\geq 0\), \(q \in C^1[0,1]\), \(r \in C[0,1]\), \(p\in C^2[0,1]\) with \(\mathrm{essinf}_{t\in [0,1]} p(t) > 0\), \(h,g\) are continuous and they exhibit both concave and convex characteristics. Their approach is based on variational methods, particularly on those formulated by Ricceri. They also present examples to illustrate their main results.
