      Let \(M\) be a real \((2n+1)\)-dimensional manifold, equipped with an almost contact metric structure \((\phi, \xi, \eta, g)\) [\textit{D. E. Blair}, Contact manifolds in Riemannian geometry. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag (1976; Zbl 0319.53026)] and let us set \(N^{(1)} := [\phi, \phi] + 2 (d \eta) \otimes \xi\), where \([\phi, \phi]\) is the Nijenhuis torsion of \(\phi\) (so that \(N^{(1)} = 0\) when the almost contact structure \((\phi, \xi, \eta)\) is normal). The author investigates the harmonicity of the Reeb vector field \(\xi\) (as a unit vector field on the Riemannian manifold \((M, g)\), cf. [\textit{S. Dragomir} and \textit{D. Perrone}, Harmonic vector fields. Variational principles and differential geometry. Amsterdam: Elsevier (2012; Zbl 1245.53002)] on an almost contact metric manifold \((M, (\phi, \xi, \eta, g))\) obeying to \([\phi, \phi] = 0\) yet \((\phi, \xi, \eta)\) not being normal.
