A family \(\{S_ i\); \(i\in I\}\) of algebras is \(m\)-rigid if there exists no injective homomorphism \(f: S_ i\to S_ j\) for any distinct \(i,j\in I\). The aim of this paper is to prove the following theorem: Let \(V\) be a variety of semigroups containing all three-nilpotent semigroups or let \(V\) be a variety of bands containing all semilattices. Then for every cancellative monoid \(M\), every algebra \(A\in V\), and every infinite cardinal \(\alpha\) with \(\alpha\geq\text{card}(A)\), \(\text{card}(M)\) there exists an \(m\)-rigid family \(\{S_ i\); \(i\in 2^ \alpha\}\) of algebras from \(V\) of cardinality \(\alpha\) such that \(A\) is a retract of \(S_ i\) and the monoid of injective endomorphisms of \(S_ i\) is isomorphic to \(M\) for every \(i\in 2^ \alpha\). Moreover, for every finite group \(G\) and every finite algebra \(A\in V\) there exists an infinite \(m\)-rigid family \(\{S_ i\); \(i\in\aleph_ 0\}\) of finite algebras from \(V\) such that \(A\) is a retract of \(S_ i\) and the automorphism group of \(S_ i\) is isomorphic to \(G\) for every \(i\in\aleph_ 0\).
