      In 2011, \textit{Z. Sun} [Sci. China, Math. 54, No. 12, 2509--2535 (2011; Zbl 1256.11011)] proposed the following conjecture: For any prime \(p \equiv 1 \pmod 4\) and any positive integer \(r\), the following supercongruence holds: \N\[\N\sum_{k=0}^{p^r-1} \frac{4k+1}{64^k} \binom{2k}{k}^3 \equiv 0 \pmod{p^r}. \N\]\NTo define the \(q\)-analog of such identities, we let \(0 < |q| < 1\). The \(q\)-shifted factorial is defined by\N\[\N(a; q)_0 = 1 \quad \text{and} \quad (a; q)_n = (1-a)(1-aq) \cdots (1-aq^{n-1}).\N\]\NWe further define the \(q\)-integer as \([n]_q = 1 + q + \cdots + q^{n-1}\) and denote the \(n\)-th cyclotomic polynomial by \(\Phi_n(q)\).\N\NIn the paper under review, the author utilizes Watson's \(_8\phi_7\) transformation to prove the following \(q\)-supercongruence, among others:\N\[\N\sum_{k=0}^{n^r-1} [4k+1]_{q^2} \frac{(q^2; q^4)_k^3}{(q^4; q^4)^3_k} q^{-k} \equiv 0 \pmod{\prod_{j=1}^r \Phi_{n^j}(q)^2},\N\]\Nwhere \(r\) and \(n\) are positive integers with \(n \equiv 1 \pmod 4\). This result implies Sun's conjecture as a special case.
