The authors of the present paper generalize double bracket vector fields to Poisson manifolds with a pseudo-Riemannian metric in order to explore the gradient nature of the so-called generalized double bracket vector field, introducing a notion of metriplectic tensor field. One application of the results is into Hamiltonian dynamics: an asymptotic equilibria stabilization from equilibria stabilization. They illustrate their results by many interesting examples.
