The paper is dedicated to the investigation of the question: Given a Hartogs domain \(D:=\big\{(z,w) \in \mathbb C \times \mathbb C^n\,|\,\, \| w \| < e^{-\phi(z)}\big\}\), where \(\|w\|\) is the maximum norm of a vector \(w \in \mathbb C^n\) and \(\phi\) is subharmonic on \(\mathbb C\). Which relationship exists between properties of \(\phi\) and the Bergman space \(H^2(D)\)? \smallskip The author starts from the decomposition of the Riesz measure \(\Delta \phi\) \[ \Delta \phi = 2\pi \bigg( \,\sum_j \alpha_j \delta_{a_j} + \mu \,\bigg), \] where \(\{a_j\,|\,j\geq 1\}\) is the set of points where the Lelong number of \(\phi\) is positive, \(\delta_{a_j}\) denotes the Dirac measure at the point \(a_j\), and \(\alpha_j>0\). The measure \(\mu\) is positive and equal to zero on countable sets. The infinite series converges in the sense of distributions. For a real number \(x\) we denote by \([x]\) its integer part and by \(\text{frac} (x)= x - [x]\) its fractional part. The function \(\phi\) is said to satisfy condition (*) if \smallskip \(\exists j_1\neq j_2: \,\,\text{frac} (\alpha_{j_1}),\text{frac} (\alpha_{j_2}),\text{frac} (\alpha_{j_1}+\alpha_{j_2})>0\) or \(\exists j_1<j_2<j_3: \,\,\alpha_{j_1}=\alpha_{j_2} =\alpha_{j_3}=\frac{1}{2}\). \smallskip Then the main result of the article is as follows: \smallskip Theorem. Let \(\phi\) be as above. If in the above decomposition of \(\Delta \phi\) the condition (*) is fulfilled or if \(\mu =0\), then \(\text{dim\,}H^2(D)=\infty\). Otherwise one has \(H^2(D)=\{0\}\).
