Based on the ideas of \textit{S. H. Lee}, \textit{S. M. Im} and \textit{I. S. Hwang} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 307, No. 2, 387--394 (2005; Zbl 1072.39024)], who considered the quartic functional equation \[ f(2x+y) + f(2x-y) = 4[f(x+y) + f(x-y)] + 24f(x) - 6f(y) \eqno(1) \] and investigated general solutions and the Hyers-Ulam stability of that equation, the authors of the paper under review extend (1) to a more complicated \(n\)-dimensional quartic functional equation, investigate the general solution and prove its generalized Hyers-Ulam stability for functions from a \(\beta\)-normed left \(B\)-module to another \(\beta\)-normed left Banach \(B\)-module. The authors use a fixed point method, where \(B\) is a unital Banach algebra.
