The author relates the theory of purity of a locally finitely presented category with products to the study of exact structures on the full subcategory of finitely presented objects. Let \(\mathcal{A}\) be a locally finitely presented category with products, \(\mathcal{E}\) be an exact structure on fp\(\mathcal{A}\) the subcategory of finitely presented objects of \(\mathcal{A}\). The author's first theorem states that there exists a fully faithful functor ev\(_{E}: \mathcal{A}\to P_{\mathcal{E}}(\mathcal{A})\), where \(P_{\mathcal{E}}(\mathcal{A})\) is the localization of \(P(\mathcal{A})\) at a hereditary torsion class of finite type.\N\NLet \(\mathcal{E}_{\top}\) be the largest exact structure on fp\(\mathcal{A}\). The second theorem states there exist one to one correspondences between the following:\N\N~(1)~Exact structures on fp\(\mathcal{A}\);\N\N~(2)~Definable subcategories of \(\mathcal{A}\) containing all fp-\(\overline{\mathcal{E}_{\top}}\)-injective;\N\N~(3)~Closed subset of Zsp\(\mathcal{A}\) containing all indecomposable \(\overline{\mathcal{E}_{\top}}\)-injective.\N\NHere \(\overline{\mathcal{E}}\) is the exact structure on \(\mathcal{A}\) indued by the embedding ev\(_{\mathcal{E}}\) and Zsp\(\mathcal{A}\) is the Ziegler spectrum of \(\mathcal{A}\).\N\N\NApplying the above two theorem to Artin algebras, the author obtains a bijection between isomorphism classes of indecomposable endofinite modules \(M\in \)Mod\(A\) that are not injective and maximal exact structures \(\mathcal{E}\) on mod\(A\) such that there exists an almost \(\mathcal{E}\)-exact sequence. Moreover, \(M\) is generic if and only if \(\mathcal{E}\) contains every almost split sequence.
