Let \(U\) be an infinite subset of \(\mathbb Z\), the ring of rational integers. The author defines a \(\mathbb Z\)-valued function \(f\) on \(U\) to be a locally integer polynomial function if on every finite subset of \(U\) the function \(f\) coincides with a polynomial in \(\mathbb Z[x]\) and studies the properties of the ring \(LIP(U)\) of such functions.
