Let \((X,d,\mu)\) be a metric measure space endowed with a doubling measure that satisfies the regularity condition \(\mu(B(x,r)) \gtrsim r^n\) for some \(n \geq 1\), and let \(L\) be a non-negative self-adjoint operator on \(L^2(\mu)\). The paper establishes \(L^1-L^\infty\) dispersive estimates for certain operators \(e^{it\phi(L)}\) with \(\phi:\mathbb{R_+} \to \mathbb{R}\) smooth, under the assumption that the heat semigroup \(e^{-tL}\) satisfies Gaussian bounds and the Schrödinger group \(e^{itL}\) satisfies standard dispersive estimates. The precise dispersive decay for \(e^{it\phi(L)}\) depends on the asymptotic behaviour of \(\phi\) for \(r\to 0\) and \(r \to \infty\).\N\NThe result is based on a subordination formula. It extends the result of [\textit{T. A. Bui} et al., Math. Ann. 375, No. 3--4, 1393--1426 (2019; Zbl 1430.42029)] on metric spaces, where \(\phi\) is assumed to have power-like behaviour at \(0\) and \(\infty\), to the more general assumptions on \(\phi\) introduced in [\textit{Z. Guo} et al., J. Funct. Anal. 254, No. 6, 1642--1660 (2008; Zbl 1145.35032)] in the Euclidean setting.
