In this article, the authors establish seven new Legendre type identities related to overpartitions and pairs of overpartitions (Theorems 1.1--1.6), and the proofs of these identities rely on the theory of \(q\)-series. Furthermore, the combinatorial interpretations of these identities are also discussed. At the end, the authors leave an open question for the readers, namely, finding combinatorial proofs for these identities.
