Rapid mixing (that is, faster than any polynomial for Hölder functions) is shown here for compact group extensions of a large class of hyperbolic flows and error estimates are given for the equidistribution of the holonomy around closed orbits. The approach involves using symbolic models for the system, delicate analysis of associated transfer operators, the representation theory of the extending group, and connecting Diophantine properties of the flow to semi-simplicity of the Brin group. While there are many technical difficulties to overcome the ideas are explained carefully throughout. The results apply to certain frame flows for manifolds with negative sectional curvature.
