There is a method demonstrated in papers of \textit{V. Matsaev} and \textit{M. Sodin} [Int. Math. Res. Not. 1999, No. 6, 287--297 (1999; Zbl 0923.30019), Geom. Funct. Anal. 10, 160--184 (2000; Zbl 0948.44001)] to prove results on the Hilbert transform by the theory of subharmonic functions. Here the authors prove three theorems having applications in the theory of the Hilbert transform and other applications. Among these is the following. Let \(\mu\) be a positive Borel measure with convergent integral \[ u(z)=\int\limits_C \Re \left(\ln\left(1-\frac{z}{\zeta}\right) +\frac{z}{\zeta}\right)d\mu(\zeta). \] Then \[ M(r,u)\leq C\left(r\int_0^r \frac{n(t)}{t^2}\,dt+ r^2\int_r^\infty\frac{n(t)}{t^3}\,dt+ r^2\int_r^\infty\frac{m(t)}{t^2} \,dt\right), \] where \(M(r,u)= \max_\theta u(re^{i\theta})\), \( n(r)= \mu\left(B\left(\frac{ir}{2},\frac{r}{2}\right)\cup B\left(-\frac{ir}{2},\frac{r}{2}\right)\right)\), \(B(z,a)=\{w:|w-z|\leq a\}\), \(m(r,u)=\frac{1}{2\pi}\int_0^{2\pi} u\left(re^{i\theta}|\sin\theta|\right)\frac{d\theta}{\sin^2\theta}\). The inequality of Marcinkiewicz in the theory of Hilbert transform is a simple application of this theorem.
