Let \(X\) be a set, and \(r\) a set-theoretic solution of the Yang-Baxter equation on \(X\). A reflection for \((X,r)\) is a map \(\kappa:X\rightarrow X\) satisfying \N\[\Nr(\mathrm{id}_X\times \kappa)r(\mathrm{id}_X\times \kappa)=(\mathrm{id}_X\times\kappa)r(\mathrm{id}_X\times\kappa)r.\N\]\NThe main purpose of the paper under review is to determine reflections to bijective non-degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation.\N\NFor any \(x,y\in X\), define \N\[\Nr(x,y)=(\lambda_x(y),\rho_y(x))\N\]\Nand \N\[\Nx\rhd_r y=\lambda_x\rho_{\lambda_y^{-1}(x)}(y).\N\]\NThe authors show that for any left non-degenerate solution \((X,r)\), a map \(\kappa:X\rightarrow X\) satisfying \(\lambda_x\kappa=\kappa\lambda_x\) for all \(x\in X\) is a reflection for \((X,r)\) if and only if \(\kappa L_x=\kappa L_{\kappa(x)}\) and \(\kappa L_{L_x(y)}(x)=L_{\kappa L_x(y)}\kappa(x)\) for all \(x,y\in X\). Here the map \(L_x:X\rightarrow X\) is given by \(y\mapsto x\rhd_r y\). Versions for bijective left non-degenerate solutions, right non-degenerate solutions, bijective right non-degenerate solutions, and bijective non-degenerate solutions are given as well. Finally, the authors construct reflections from the twisted unions of involutive non-degenerate solutions, the matched product, and the strong semilattice of solutions respectively.
