The authors consider set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation coming from braces. They show that Lyubashenko's solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation are expressable through simple twists and that solutions from braces are obtainable from the permutation operator via Drinfeld twists. The reflection and twisted quadratic algebras associated with the classification of boundary conditions in quantum integrable models are also studied. The authors derive the algebra relations for the associated Baxterized solutions of the \(A\)-type Hecke algebra at \(q=1\). They also prove a duality relation between the boundary-finite subalgebra of the reflection algebra and the \(B\)-type Hecke algebra. These results are applied to study open quantum spin chains and symmetries of Sklyanin's double row transfer matrix constructed from Baxterized solutions of the \(B\)-type Hecke algebra. All but one factor of the \(\lambda\)-series expansion of the open transfer matrix is shown to be expressable in terms of the elements of the \(B\)-type Hecke algebra. Moreover, a finite subalgebra of the reflection algebra commutes with the \(B\)-type Hecke algebra. The authors generalize known symmetries of the double row transfer matrix associated with Lyubashenko's solutions and those from braces.
