The author considers the sublocus \(M_{g,k} (m)\subset M_{g,k}\subset M_g\) consisting of \(k\)-gonal curves having exactly \(m\) \(g^1_k\), which are independent and of special type. He gives certain examples for these loci and checks whether they are empty or irreducible. For example, it is proved that \(M_{10,5}(3)=M_{10,5}(4)= \emptyset\); \(M_{10,5}(1)\), \(M_{10,5}(2)\), \(M_{10,5}(5)\neq\emptyset\) and they are irreducible; \(M_{42,9}(4)\), \(M_{41,9}(4)\), \(M_{40,9}(4)\neq \emptyset\) and they are not irreducible. The geometry of the loci is studied by models of the curves and their specializations.
