In this paper, the authors develop an approach for analysing the \(E_2\)-page of the \(R\)-based Adams spectral sequence, where \(R\) is a ring spectrum that is not necessarily flat.\N\NFor a class \(\mathcal{P}\) of `simples' (a suitable class of compact \(R\)-modules), \(\mathrm{Rep} (\mathcal{P})\) is the category of additive presheaves on \(\mathcal{P}\) (restricting to `indecomposables', this can be thought of as the category of representations of the associated quiver, whence the title). There is an associated homology theory \(\mathsf{P} \colon \mathcal{M}od_R \rightarrow \mathrm{Rep}(\mathcal{P})\) on left \(R\)-modules given by \(\mathsf{P} (M) \colon S \mapsto \pi_0 \mathrm{Map} _R (S, M)\), for \(S\) in \(\mathcal{P}\).\N\NFor \(f : A \rightarrow R\) a ring morphism, if this is `\(\mathsf{P}\)-flat', the authors show that there is a comonad \(\mathcal{Q}\) on \(\mathrm{Rep} (\mathcal{P})\) such that, for any \(R\)-module \(M\), one has \( \mathsf{P} (R \otimes_A M) \cong \mathcal{Q} (\mathsf{P} (M))\). This gives rise to the push-forward homology theory \(f_* \mathsf{P} \colon \mathcal{M}od_A \rightarrow \mathcal{C}omod_\mathcal{Q}\) on \(A\)-modules; the \(\mathcal{Q}\)-comodule structure is viewed as encoding homology operations.\N\NBy a general result of [\textit{I. Patchkoria} and \textit{P. Pstragowski}, ``Adams spectral sequences and Franke's algebraicity conjecture'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2110.03669}] for adapted homology theories, there is an associated \(\mathsf{P}\)-based Adams spectral sequence for studying \(\pi_{*} \mathrm{Map} _A (X,Y)\) with \(E_2\)-page \(\mathrm{Ext}^{*,*}_{\mathcal{C}omod_\mathcal{Q}} (f_*\mathsf{P} (X), f_*\mathsf{P} (Y))\). When \(f\) is the unit \(\iota \colon \mathbb{S} \rightarrow R\), this can be compared with the \(R\)-based Adams spectral sequence. In particular, there is a comparison map \(^R E_2^{*,*} (X,Y) \rightarrow \mathrm{Ext}^{*,*}_{\mathcal{C}omod_\mathcal{Q}} (\mathsf{P} (X), \mathsf{P} (Y))\) of the \(E_2\)-pages.\N\NThe authors' tenet is that, even when \(R\) is not flat, there can exist interesting \(\mathcal{P}\) for which the unit \(\mathbb{S} \rightarrow R\) is \(\mathsf{P}\)-flat. Then, under certain hypotheses, the above comparison map between \(E_2\)-pages is an isomorphism, thus giving a homological-algebra interpretation of the \(E_2\)-page of the \(R\)-based Adams spectral sequence.\N\NWhen \(f : A \rightarrow R\) is of `\(\mathcal{P}\)-Adams type' (an analogue of the classical Adams-type condition, which implies \(\mathsf{P}\)-flat), the authors introduce the category of Ind-perfect \(\mathcal{Q}\)-comodules, that they view as a form of `decompletion' of the derived category of \(\mathcal{Q}\)-comodules.\N\NIf \(f\) is an \(\mathbb{E}_1\)-ring morphism and is of \(\mathcal{P}\)-Adams type, they introduce the category \(\mathrm{Syn}_\mathcal{P} (\mathcal{M}od_A)\) of \(\mathcal{P}\)-based synthetic \(A\)-modules, generalizing [\textit{P. Pstragowski}, Invent. Math. 232, No. 2, 553--681 (2023; Zbl 1536.55013)]. This is a categorical deformation interpolating between between \(A\)-modules and Ind-perfect \(\mathcal{Q}\)-modules.\N\NRestricting to the case \(\iota \colon \mathbb{S} \rightarrow R\), the authors consider various deformations of spectra, \(\mathrm{Sp}\), and comparisons between such, using results of Patchkoria and Pstragowski [loc. cit.] and the functoriality of deformations of \(\infty\)-categories considered in the appendix. These results are applied, for example, to analyse the comparison between the \(R\)-based Adams spectral sequence and the \(\mathsf{P}\)-based Adams spectral sequence.\N\NThe authors also treat multiplicative properties of their constructions.\N\NThese methods are illustrated for \(p\)-local integral homology (in this review, \(H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\)), using the unit map and taking \(\mathcal{P}\) to be generated by the modules \(H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\) and \(H \mathbb{F}_p\). The associated \(\mathrm{Rep}(\mathcal{P})\) is termed the category of Bockstein couples; this is identified explicitly, together with its symmetric monoidal structure.\N\NThe authors compare the \(H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\)-based Adams spectral sequence and the \(\mathsf{P}\)-based Adams spectral sequence, that they also compare with the classical \(H \mathbb{F}_p\)-based Adams spectral sequence. They show that there is a fully faithful comparison functor induced by a commutative square of synthetic \(\infty\)-categories\N\[\N\mathrm{Syn}_\mathcal{P} (\mathrm{Sp}) \hookrightarrow \mathrm{Syn}_{\mathbb{F}_p} (\mathrm{Sp}) \times _{\mathrm{Syn}_{\mathbb{F}_p} (\mathcal{M}od_{H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}})} \mathrm{Syn}_{\mathcal{P}} (\mathcal{M}od_{H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}}).\N\]\NThis shows how the \(H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\)-based Adams spectral sequence is related to the classical Adams spectral sequence.\N\NThey show how to perform calculations under appropriate hypotheses. As an example they analyse the \(H \mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\)-based Adams spectral sequence for \(BP\), pointing out how this sheds light on Brown and Peterson's original construction of \(BP\).\N\NThey also treat other spectra, for example \(R= k(n)\), connective Morava \(K\)-theory.
