Usually, an \(m\)-homogeneous polynomial \(P\in {\mathcal P}(^mE;F)\) is said to be unconditionally converging, if \(\sum^\infty_{i=1}Px_i\) is unconditionally convergent for all weakly unconditionally Cauchy sequences \((x_i)\in {\mathbf l}_1^w(E)\). The author of this paper has introduced a new notion of unconditionality for polynomials, which turns out to be strictly stronger than the old one for \(m>1\): He defines \(P\in{\mathcal P}_{uc}(^mE;F)\) iff \((P( \sum^n_{i=1} x_i))_n\) is norm convergent (or equivalently, weakly convergent) for each sequence \((x_i)\in {\mathbf l}_1^w(E)\). With this new notion it is possible to extend several results from the linear case to the polynomial one. This includes a characterization of unconditionally convergent polynomials by the adjoint polynomials, an Orlicz-Pettis type theorem for the weak and for the polynomial topology, and a characterization of Banach spaces not containing \(c_0\): A Banach space \(E\) does not contain a copy of \(c_0\) iff \({\mathcal P}_{uc} (^mE;F) ={\mathbf P}(^mE;F)\) holds true for all Banach spaces \(F\). Finally, the author studies Banach spaces \(E\) on which each unconditionally converging polynomial is weakly compact.
