The paper under review extends the theory of endotrivial chain complexes by introducing their relative counterparts, inspired by notion of relatively endotrivial modules by \textit{C. Lassueur} [J. Algebra 337, No. 1, 285--317 (2011; Zbl 1257.20003)]. Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(k\) a field of characteristic \(p>0\). Working in the homotopy category \(K^b(_{kG}\mathbf{triv})\) of bounded complexes of \(p\)-permutation modules, the author defines three notions: weakly \(V\)-endotrivial complexes (those whose endomorphism complex is homotopy equivalent to \(k[0] \oplus D\), with \(D\) a complex of \(V\)-projective modules), strongly \(V\)-endotrivial complexes (invertible in the \(V\)-stable homotopy category) and \(V\)-endosplit-trivial complexes (homotopy equivalent to \(k[0] \oplus M[0]\), with \(M\) a \(V\)-projective module).\N\NEquivalent local characterizations are given for weakly \(V\)-endotrivial and \(V\)-endosplit-trivial complexes via their Brauer constructions (Theorems 7.2 and 8.4), assuming \(V\) is absolutely \(p\)-divisible. The author also defines Picard-type groups of isomorphism classes, proving them finitely generated using superclass functions (\(h\)-marks) subject to Borel-Smith-type constraints.\N\NThe restriction map to Sylow \(p\)-subgroups induces a split exact sequence reducing the study of endotrivial complexes to the case of \(p\)-groups (Theorem 1.3). The final part applies these methods to characterize when induced complexes preserve endosplit \(p\)-permutation resolutions (Proposition 8.3, Corollary 12.4(c)).\N\NSections 2--5 recall relative projectivity and the relevant stable categories. The remainder develops the theory with attention to compatibility under induction, restriction and homological invariants. The treatment is technically solid and extends prior work by \textit{J. F. Carlson} [Modules and group algebras. Notes by Ruedi Suter. Basel: Birkhäuser (1996; Zbl 0883.20006)], Lassueur [loc. cit.] and the author [J. Algebra 650, 173--218 (2024; Zbl 1537.20129)] in a homotopical direction.
