The authors study the following equation in \(\mathbb{R}^N\)\N\[\N-\Delta u+a(x)u=\lambda w(x)|u|^{q-2}u-h(x)|u|^{r-2}u-(I_\alpha\ast |u|^{2^*_\alpha})|u|^{2^*_\alpha-2}u,\N\]\Nin the range of parameters \(\lambda \in \mathbb{R}\), \(N>2\), \(0<\alpha <N\) and \(2^*_\alpha=\frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}\). Here \(a(x)\geq c(1+|x|^2)^{-1}\), \(h\geq 0\), \(w\geq 0\) are real valued locally integrable functions satisfying several types of integrability assumptions, \(I_\alpha(x)=A_{\alpha,N}|x|^{\alpha-N}\) is the Riesz kernel and \(2^*_\alpha\) corresponds to the upper Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev critical exponent.\N\NThe authors prove existence, non-existence and multiplicity results following the type of assumptions made on the functions \(a, h, w\) and the parameter \(\lambda\). The tools rely on sharp variational techniques and bifurcation theory.
