The author studies limit models in the abstract elementary class of modules with embeddings and their relationship to the parametrized Noetherian property. Limit models introduced by \textit{S. Shelah} and \textit{O. Kolman} [Fundam. Math. 151, No. 3, 209--240 (1996; Zbl 0882.03039)] are a key concept in the study of abstract elementary classes. A ring \(R\) is called left \((<\kappa)\)-Noetherian if every left ideal is \((<\kappa)\)-generated (i.e., generated by a set indexed by a cardinal less than \(\kappa\)). An \(R\)-module \(M\) is called \(\mu\)-injective if every homomorphism \(I\to M\) from a \((<\mu)\)-generated ideal \(I\) factors through the inclusion \(I\to R\). Based on algebraic lemmas, the author\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[1.] characterizes \((<\kappa)\)-Noetherian rings for a regular cardinal \(\kappa\) using the \(\kappa^+\)-injectiveness of limit models, and\N\item[2.] proves that the following are equivalent:\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[(a)] \(R\) is left \((<\aleph_n)\)-Noetherian but not left \((<\aleph_{n-1})\)-Noetherian.\N\item[(b)] The abstract elementary class of modules with embeddings has exactly \(n+1\) non-isomorphic \(\lambda\)-limit models for every \(\lambda\ge(\mathop{\mathrm{card}}(R)+\aleph_0)^+\) such that the class is stable in \(\lambda\).\N\end{itemize}\N\end{itemize}\NThe author also provides rings such that the abstract elementary class of modules with embeddings has exactly \(\kappa\) non-isomorphic \(\lambda\)-limit models for every infinite cardinal \(\kappa\).
