The semiclassical limit of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in a radial potential (Q701071)

In many physical problems it is important to understand the qualitative behavior of nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NSEs). In the present paper the authors investigate a particular NSE in which the nonlinearity gives rise to solitary waves. In particular, they address the semiclassical limit obtained when \(\hbar \to 0\), by considering the time-independent equation in two spatial dimensions. In this limit they prove the existence of a family of radial solutions concentrated around a circle centered at the origin.
