Existence of solutions for a class of nonlinear degenerate elliptic equations. (Q701401)

The author proves an existence result for a weighted elliptic semilinear problem. No growth conditions are assumed on the nonlinear term but only a sign condition. The result is derived from an abstract result on equations on Banach spaces. The abstract result has an interest in itself and it is observed that the result on the weighted elliptic semilinear problem may also be obtained directly by an adaptation of the method of Brézis-Browder.
