This paper provides a reference for basic categorical properties of cateogories of small \(\mathbb{C}\)-linear \(\ast\)-categories \(^\ast \textbf{Cat}_\mathbb{C}^{\text{nu}}\) and cateogries of small \(C^\ast\) categories \(C^\ast \textbf{Cat}\).\N\NMore precisely, this paper extends the construction of crossed products of algebra to two functors\N\[\N-\rtimes^{\text{alg}} G : \textbf{Fun}(BG,^\ast \textbf{Cat}_\mathbb{C}^{\text{nu}}) \to ^\ast \textbf{Cat}_\mathbb{C}^{\text{nu}}\N\]\Nand\N\[\N-\rtimes G: \textbf{Fun}(BG,C^\ast \textbf{Cat}) \to C^\ast \textbf{Cat}\N\]\Nwhere \(\textbf{Fun}(BG,\mathcal{C})\) is the category of objects with \(G\)-action and equivariant morphisms in category \(\mathcal{C}\).\N\NIt is shown that both crossed product functors sends weak equivalence to unitary equivalence and can be described by homotopy quotient up to unitary equivalence. Moreover, the crossed product functor for \(\textbf{Fun}(BG,C^\ast \textbf{Cat})\) preserves the exact sequences and excisive squares.
