The authors initiate the study of variational inequalities with hyperbolic scalars. After dealing with some of their basic properties, a particular variational inequality problem in \(\mathbb{D}^N\) is presented. In the last section, a hyperbolic version of the Lax-Milgram theorem for \(\mathbb{D}\)-Hilbert spaces is established.
