The paper addresses a fundamental problem in the theory of scalar conservation laws, focusing on improving the decay rates of total variation. It introduces a novel concept of intermediate domains, denoted as \(P_\alpha\), which are specifically designed for solutions with strictly convex flux. The primary motivation is to refine the classical decay rate, which typically follows a \(t^{-1}\) pattern.\N\NThe analysis is based on a Fourier-type decomposition of the solution, fractional Sobolev spaces and the theory of analytic semigroups. One of the key insights is the relation between the fractional domain regularity and the enhanced decay rate. The results aim at extending the theory of fractional domains for analytic semigroups to an entirely nonlinear setting.
