Let \(\mathscr{POPD}_n\) be the semigroup consisting of all orientation-preserving and order-decreasing partial transformations on a finite \(n\)-element chain and let \[\mathscr{POPD}(n,r)=\{\alpha\in\mathscr{POPD}_n\colon |\mathbf{im}(\alpha)|\leqslant r\}\] for \(1\leqslant r\leqslant n-1\). The authors show that the rank and the idempotent rank of the semigroup \(\mathscr{POPD}(n,r)\) are both equal to \(\sum\limits_{s=r}^n \binom{n}{s}\binom{s}{r}\tfrac{(2n-r-1)(r-2)}{2}\) for \(1\leqslant r\leqslant n-1\). As a corollary they get that the rank and the idempotent rank of the mpnoid \(\mathscr{POPD}_n\) are both equal to \(\tfrac{n^2+n+2}{2}\).
